About respondent lists

To invite respondents to your Lumi Say project, you need to set up at least one respondent list, which will contain the contact details of the respondents. To define and manage respondent lists, at the top of the screen click respondents.

Note: respondents are always organized into lists, so you must create at least one list in your Lumi Say account, whether you want to add a single respondent or do a bulk import.

Adding respondent lists

To add a new respondent list:

  1. If you are not already viewing the respondent lists, then click respondents at the top of the screen.
  2. Near the top of the screen, click add list.
  3. In name, type a name for your list.
  4. In description, enter a short description that helps you identify this list at a later date.
  5. In default language, select the language that will be used for this list; this language will be used where possible for projects assigned to respondents in this list. For more details, see translating your project.
  6. If this list contains members of your team, for the purposes of testing projects, select set as preview list.

Adding a preview list (for survey testing)

A preview list is a special respondent list where the "respondents" in it are actually people who will be testing the survey. Adding a preview list is very similar to adding a normal respondent list. The only difference is that you select the option set as preview list when creating the list.

To add a new preview list:

  1. If you are not already viewing the respondent lists, then click respondents at the top of the screen.
  2. Near the top of the screen, click add list.
  3. In name, type a name for your list.
  4. In description, enter a short description that helps you identify this list at a later date.
  5. In default language, select the language that will be used for this list; this language will be used where possible for projects assigned to respondents in this list. For more details, see translating your project.
  6. Select set as preview list.

Exporting respondents

You can also export the list of respondents. This is useful if you want to import the list into another Lumi Say dashboard. For details on how to import respondents in bulk, see importing respondents.

To export a respondent list:

  1. Ensure you have the respondent list open (at the top of the screen, click respondents, then click the list name).
  2. At the top of the screen click export list.
  3. Follow the instructions in your browser to save the file. The respondent list is saved as a comma-separated (CSV) file.
